Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding? (Isaiah 29:13-16)
Just giving lip-service to GOD and acknowledging Jesus Christ as a historical figure does not make you a Christian. True belief includes a repentant heart that has turned from sIn and to GOD for salvation, a trust in GOD's Word instead of man's, and a deep desire for GOD to make the changes He requires in us. We may not have understood all of what GOD was going to do, but when those of us who are truly in Christ believed and surrendered to GOD on His terms; we did so because we knew we were incapable of saving ourselves, we needed His forgiveness because we were broken sinners that only He could fix, and we wanted what only Jesus could give us, a new heart and a new life in Him.
Many of us have learned even more so over the years, that GOD as Creator has the right to dictate terms to His Creation; that GOD as Judge is just to require a payment for our sIn, and GOD as redeemer is the only one who can be a mediator between GOD and man. When Jesus stepped out of Heaven and put on flesh for the sole purpose of going to the Cross of Calvary, He did so because He loves us, and only He can save us from ourselves and our sIn.
We need to believe that we must get out of the way in order for GOD to work. And oh, what a marvelous work He will do when we let Him. Not only to justify us in His sight through the blood of Jesus Christ, but to sanctify us through the Word and His Spirit, and finally to glorify us in His presence.
If you today have never received His free gift by faith, and trusted in Him for your salvation, GOD says that you are still in your sIns and are condemned already. But, GOD is not willing that any should perish, and calls everyone everywhere to repent. Surrender to GOD on His terms and be born again by the power of GOD.
Praise Him today for all His marvelous works to the children of men that they might believe.
