And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high GOD. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high GOD, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high GOD, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. (Gen 14:14-20)
Who this man was is not known, but regardless, he was a servant of Jehovah, and accepted the tithes as priest, and blessed both GOD in worship and Abraham in response to Abraham's faith and obedience. Abraham knew GOD was the reason for the victory, and the strength for the battle.
We have a spiritual battle we are involved in. We are fighting for the souls of men, and while we cannot save anyone, we fight against spiritual powers and the darkness of this world. We do so in prayer, the strength and power that only comes from GOD, and at His command. We wield the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of GOD. We minister to the hurting as GOD blesses us, disciple one another in love and the Word, and as we go, we proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who will hear that they might believe and believing have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with Him that is real and personal. Surrender to GOD on His terms and receive Him by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Only He can give you victory over sIn, and the forgiveness and Salvation that comes from trusting in what He has already done for you on that cruel Roman cross.
In Christ,
