Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. (Ezekiel 31:3-5)
Ezekiel continues his Word from GOD against Egypt by comparing them to the kingdom of Assyria that had been conquered by the Babylonians already. They seemed mighty and strong and no other kingdom at the time could stand up to them, until GOD, who sets up and tears down kingdoms in His good time, allowed the Babylonians to rise up and overthrow them. GOD says that Egypt who seems to be a strong nation to the south of Israel, will also be overrun by the Babylonians, whom GOD is using to bring a judgment upon the nations that are opposed to Him, and chastising Israel for their rebellion against Him. GOD used Babylon to cut down this tall and strong 'cedar of Lebanon' and would soon use them to take down the nation of Egypt that thought itself stronger than Assyria.
All people who reject the Living GOD of the Universe, who alone is GOD, who has already judged all as sinners against His righteousness, will face His wrath at some point. But, GOD is not willing that any should perish, and He tells His Church to go and tell. Go to this lost and dying world and stand strong in His might against those that oppose GOD, and tell them of the Good News of Jesus Christ, and His finished work on the Cross of Calvary. Go to the hurting and wayward and tell them of the only Hope we have in this world or the next, and the forgiveness they can receive by Faith in the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, Jesus Christ, our Living Lord.
If you don't know Jesus Christ, and have never surrendered to Him on His terms, GOD calls you to repent. Turn from your sIn and turn to Him and be born again. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. He wants you to give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Believe His Word, and Trust Him for Salvation today.
His people must be faithful and obedient to Kingdom work, share His Word with those you meet.
