And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with His sword drawn in His hand: and Joshua went unto Him, and said unto Him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And He said, Nay; but as Captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto Him, What saith my lord unto His servant? And the Captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is Holy. And Joshua did so. (Jos 5:13-15)
We are to go forth to the battle He has already won, not in our own strength which will fail us, but resting and trusting in Him, knowing He has finished the fight and gained the victory; victory over sin and this world, victory over death and the grave, and victory over whatever battles may come our way, and we are secure in Him who gives us the victory. We are to obey Him, for He is Lord, and follow His Commands, not with lip service, but surrender to Him on His terms and submission to His will with all of who we are, heart, mind, soul, and strength. We are to worship Him and Him alone, for He alone is worthy of all praise, our Creator who made us in His image, our Redeemer who delivered us from sin, and our soon coming King who is sovereign over all.
Just as our Lord called Joshua to holiness and obedience, He calls us who are alive in Christ to live in Him and He in us, a life of holiness through His Spirit within, and obedience to His Word that we might live and grow into His likeness, and reflect His presence within. He has called us, as His ambassadors, to victory through His mighty power, as we minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, with the Word of reconciliation. He has commanded us, as His disciples, to love one another and to equip one another to the battle with His armour and His Word. He has commissioned us to take His Gospel to this lost and dying world, that all may hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and believe in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary that secured the victory and repent of their sins and have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
