Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle. Harness the horses; and get up, ye horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines. Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the LORD. GOD can use even our enemies to bring punishment and chastisement against us. Here He spoke a Word to the Egyptians and told them to prepare for battle, He knew they would be defeated by the Babylonians, but He also knew that the unbelieving remnant of Judah had set their hearts to go to Egypt for 'safety'. We must never look to those that oppose GOD for guidance, safety, or deliverance. Our help comes, not from the world, but from GOD.
GOD wanted Egypt to rise up and go to war with the waning Assyrians, and the rising Babylonians thinking that they would be victorious and conquer the region. He had a bigger plan in mind, and Egypt, along with those that trusted them for victory, was defeated and some of those from Judah and Jerusalem who were under 'protection' were captured. Most of those that did not believe were killed just as GOD had told them would happen.
We are to trust GOD in all things, and believe He will take care of us, just as He said He would. We are to obey His Word, observing to do what He tells us, for He is GOD, our Creator, Redeemer, Judge and King.
If you don't know Him, Jesus calls you to repent. Surrender to Him on His terms, believing that His finished work on the cross is sufficient payment for your sIn. GOD does not want you to perish, but calls you to be born again, receiving Him by Faith. He loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. He desires to give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting.
Trust and obey, for there's no other way...
