O LORD, are not Thine eyes upon the Truth? Thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; Thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their GOD. (Jeremiah 5:3-4)
Israel and Judah steadfastly refused to heed the warnings of the prophets. Most of the people had long since abandoned the ways of GOD and no longer heard the Word of GOD. Even while judgment was upon them, they continued in the ways of the heathen around them and disobeyed the commandments of GOD. But there was a remnant that remained faithful. GOD always has His people even in the times of the most fierce opposition to Him and His Authority over the nations.
We in the Church are also under judgment. We have sacrificed His Word on the 'alter' of expediency and convenience. The visible church has denied GOD in practice and betrayed our Lord to be accepted by this sinful world. But, the world will never 'like' us, for we represent Christ and friendship with the world is enmity with GOD. This lost and dying world is at war with GOD, they reject His Word, and dismiss His commands; the preaching of the Cross is foolishness to those that perish.
But, GOD is not willing that you should perish. He calls you to repentance and a knowledge of the Truth. The truth of Jesus Christ who loves you and gave Himself for you. The truth that your sIn separates you from a Holy and righteous GOD that has already judged you guilty and under condemnation for your sIn. Receive Him by faith, surrender to Him on His terms and be born again to a new and abundant life. An everlasting life of discipleship and fellowship with Jesus Christ that He has already paid for and He wants you to have.
It is time to stop being foolish and return to GOD in submission and repentance.
