A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner. There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches. The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke. The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. (Pro 13:5-10)
The advice is well worth heading as there is blessing (though not necessarily in the bank account) in keeping GOD's laws and His precepts. There is good that comes from obedience, as GOD commands and expects that from His own.
My friends, understand that the wisdom of the Proverbs is for having a 'good' life, but not a personal promise in every case. And those that don't have a relationship with GOD through Jesus Christ cannot follow these precepts, and those that seem to in this life but without GOD all their righteousness is filthy rags. They may seem good in our eyes but GOD rejects and has said that they are condemned already because they have not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of GOD, Jesus Christ.
If that is the state of your life and heart this morning, I pray that you will repent, surrender in your fight with GOD and receive His life, righteousness, and grace today.
And for those that are secure in Christ, tell someone of His love and grace for all and what He is doing in and for you today.
In Christ,
