And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people. (Lev. 9:22-23)
God set apart Israel for His purposes of redemption and reconciliation. He revealed Himself through His Word that they might know that they would never measure up nor could they keep His Law for salvation. Only through His grace by faith in Him could they be saved. When they kept the commands of God in faith, God showed up and blessed the people. He accepted the offerings and sacrifices which they made unto Him, not to appease His wrath, but in anticipation of the coming of the Messiah, which all these temporary sacrifices point to and reveal. The Lord was pleased and showed Himself and His glory unto all the people.
God revealed Himself ultimately in the person of Jesus Christ, the Messiah of God, the final and complete sacrifice for sin. God is glorified when His people lift Him up before those who do not know Him and have never repented of their sin and received Him by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. The sacrifices God prescribed to Israel were given to show that they could not keep the Law and since the wages of sin is death, something must die in their place. All the offerings simply covered their sin until Christ came and completed the work of God in and through Himself, the Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world. God’s plan since creation, the corruption which made the sacrifice necessary, the catastrophe and confusion which followed because of sin, has always been the Cross. Jesus Christ gave Himself willingly in our place and for our sin that He might redeem and reconcile those who will receive His gift of grace by faith unto Himself and the Father.
God has sent us out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
