For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the Doctrine of Christ, hath not GOD. He that abideth in the Doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this Doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. (2Jn 1:7-11)
Those of us who know Christ and the fellowship of His sufferings are to be discerning in this world about those who would claim Christ but preach a different doctrine. We are to study to show ourselves approved unto GOD and compare everything we see, hear, and understand by the Scriptures to see if these things are true. Whether it is a sermon, the latest movie or book, or an individual discussion we are to look to GOD's Word and judge the claims made by the standard that GOD has given us.
Our only knowledge of GOD is revealed to us in the Scriptures. Without His Word we would not know or understand who He is and what He is doing to redeem those who are not yet born again by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. We must take the Doctrine of Christ, who He is and what He has done for us and for our sIn, to this lost and dying world. We must do it in love so that others will see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. We must do it in Truth, speaking only that which we have seen and heard of GOD and His Word. And we must do it in obedience, continuing steadfast in sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, the work that GOD has us to do.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Believe His Word and receive Him by faith in what He did on that cruel Roman cross and be born again. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Come to the Father through the only Way, Jesus Christ the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son and have Life in His Name.
