For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
One of the more famous prophecies about the birth of Jesus Christ, this passage also has significance for the future. Isaiah's prophecy speaks of the coming Kingdom where Christ will rule from David's throne with perfect judgment, everlasting justice, and eternal peace. Isaiah also identifies our Lord with several titles that both individually and as a whole belong to God. Since Jesus Christ is God, and the Son of God, this identity is perfectly applicable. He is wonderful, for He is our Savior. Through His Word, and the Holy Spirit, He is our Counselor. He is mighty, for He is our Creator, our Redeemer, and King of kings and Lord of lords.
And in the future He will be the Father of all nations, for not only is He the Author and Finisher of our faith now, but He will be the ruler over the Millennial Kingdom. And while He gives us the peace that passes all understanding, He will also will rule in peace in this future kingdom.
But for those that don't know Him, who have never experienced the new birth that He offers; there is no peace. Since you do not know GOD as your Heavenly Father, you are still at war with GOD. But, He is not willing that any should perish and calls everyone everywhere to repent, that is surrender to Him on His terms. Receive Jesus Christ by faith today, and let the counsel of His Word rule in your heart, as He gives you eternal life, real peace, and everlasting joy.
If you are one of His, with GOD as your Heavenly Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit share the love of Jesus Christ with those that you meet.
