I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which He shall speak in My Name, I will require it of him. But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in My Name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the Word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the Name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. (Deut. 18:18-22)
God had Moses prepare this generation of the children of Israel to enter into the Promised Land by reviewing His Laws and what they must know of what was to come. He told them of His coming in the flesh at a future time and He warned them to listen to His Word and heed it. Until that day, He commanded them to listen to those prophets that did speak His Word and warned them of listening to those that did not speak in His Name or spoke falsely. Since God is not the god of confusion He gave them a test to make sure, if the prophet spoke things which were not in agreement with His Word, enticed their brethren to idols, or did not come to pass, they were false and were to be rejected.
Since today, the entire Word of God is complete, there is no more need for prophets to command us, but for Preachers to tell forth the whole Word to the whole world. The Word of God is our sure foundation and speaks of Him, from Creator in Genesis to Redeemer in the Gospels, to King in Revelation. Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, God the Son who is the Son of God, put to death the flesh that those who believe might live by faith through grace. Those who believe His Word, trust Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for their sins, and repent receive eternal life to live abundantly now and forever in Christ. Jesus spoke the worlds into being, spoke man and breathed life into him, and spoke forgiveness to all who will receive it. He is the Word of God and the Word made flesh, and His Word, magnified above even His Name, is His strong and powerful light in our darkness that we might see Him, know Him, and grow to be like Him. God’s people are to reach the lost with the Gospel from His Word, teach all nations of His Word, and preach His Word to everyone that those who hear may be transformed by its message of judgment, forgiveness, redemption, and salvation.
God has sent those who are His and know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our God has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of God so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God might have life in His Name.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. God calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with God, forgiveness from God, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
