And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD GOD walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD GOD amongst the trees of the garden. (Gen 3:6-8)
Eve saw that this fruit was good, but did not understand that it was not good for her and Adam. She desired it, though they did not understand that they could not handle what it would give them. She was deceived about the nature of this fruit and what it would mean to them, but Adam knowing the command of GOD, joined her in rebellion against GOD's Word. They ate in complete disobedience to GOD and sIn entered into GOD's perfect creation. The one thing that GOD did not create, that man brought upon himself had now manifested itself, and man is now separated from his GOD and afraid. Adam and Eve (as she would be called) tried to cover themselves and their sIn by their own efforts, but cannot stand in the judgment of GOD.
All mankind is guilty of sIn and rebellion against GOD because of Adam, and through our own disobedience to His Word. We are all judged and condemned by our own sIn and in need of a Saviour. Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, humbly and willingly took our place and paid the sIn debt we cannot pay, that we might have forgiveness of our sIn and eternal life in His Name. That is the Good News of the Gospel that we have to share with those who are without, those who have not yet believed His Word and received Him by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary.
We are commanded to tell all of the message of hope, grace, and mercy to those we meet that those who are still under condemnation may surrender to Him on His terms and be born again. This is our mission. This is our cause. This is His command to us, to minister to the hurting, to disciple one another in love, and to proclaim liberty from sIn through His shed blood to this lost and dying world.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Trust in what He has already done for your sIn on that cruel Roman cross and receive Jesus Christ by faith, turning from your sIn and to GOD and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. He alone can restore what was lost in Adam and He offers His Salvation to all who will believe.
