And whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him shall be unclean until the even: and he that beareth any of those things shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And whomsoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the issue, shall be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water. And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean. (Lev. 15:10-13)
God gave the Israelites proper methods of purification and cleanliness in order to keep the land, the people, and His meeting place clean. God is holy and righteous and commanded His people to be holy, to live in His righteousness, and to be clean. For those who may have been unclean temporarily, God set up standards and practices for them and for the priests to isolate them and that which was unclean for a time that any uncleanness not spread to others. He also commanded them to bring offerings unto Him for their cleansing once they were clean and to atone for their sin. They were to understand that God is the healer of their bodies, their minds, and their souls, and Israel was to offer sacrifices for this cleansing.
Our sin, our outright rebellion against a Holy God who created us, leads to uncleanness, both naturally as the ultimate cause of all sickness and disease, and spiritually as sin is in fact uncleanness of the soul before God. God gives instructions on what to do with those who are unclean not just to maintain our health, but also for us to understand what sin and uncleanness of the spirit can do in our communities, our families, and our church. Those we are not of the body of Christ, because they have never repented of their sins and received Christ by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary are to be welcomed into our fellowships that they may come to know Him and have eternal life, but they are not to be accepted into leadership or to teach others because they are not born again. It’s not trying to be harsh or unkind, for we should never be so, but spiritual and corporate healthiness and isolation from the unclean, which God commands.
God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
