And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil. And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: And he shall slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest's, so is the trespass offering: it is most holy: (Lev. 14:10-13)
God not only reminded the Israelites of His holiness once again with the rituals concerning purification and cleansing, but also reminded them that He is their healer. All healing, whether of the body or of the house came from God and the offerings which they brought, for atonement and for purification, were offered to God who had done and would do the healing of those afflicted with Leprosy or any other disease. It was not to be taken lightly, nor was it to be done haphazardly, for God wanted them to understand, not only His holiness but also His healing power. When Jesus sent the lepers to the priest for verification and the offerings this was what He was referring to concerning the Law of leprosy.
We must understand that leprosy in the Scriptures, though a virulent and highly contagious disease of itself, is also used to represent sin. Because sin corrupts everything and everyone, not only in its separating us from our Holy God but also in how it damages relationships with one another, with our neighbours, our friends, and our family members. It can destroy a church, a community, and families. The cleansing a repentant sinner receives from God when he receives Christ by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary is liberating and frees one from the bondage and penalty from sin. Than does not mean we who are in Christ have a license to sin all we want to (for we sin much more than we want to) but that we are free to live the new life which Jesus Christ has purchased for us. Just as those cleansed from leprosy offered sacrifices for purification, we offer ourselves unto God for His purposes. He who has atoned for us, redeeming and reconciling us to Himself, is worthy of our praise, because He has cleansed and healed us from sin and made us whole.
God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
