We are reconciled to GOD by the death of His Son

7/16/2014

And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which GOD hath graciously given thy servant. Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves. And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord. And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. (Gen 33:4-9)
Esau is reconciled with his brother, welcoming his new family, and even refusing the gifts Jacob had offered. Jacob had put himself in GOD's hands and prepared himself for the meeting and GOD had softened Esau's heart to be reconciled with his brother. Time can make old wounds less painful, and understanding to our hearts and minds of what is truly important.

When we trust GOD and don't lean on our own understanding, GOD can work even in our enemies to accomplish His will on our behalf. Jacob not only gained his brother, but kept his flocks for Esau had plenty himself.

GOD can make a way when there seems to be no way, for He is all-powerful and all-knowing. We cannot understand the ways of GOD, we must simply trust Him and His Word. He will bring us through every trial though there are consequences to our choices and actions. He may even chastise us along the way, but all will work out for His good and His glory, for it is all about Him.

That is the message of Hope and understanding that we are commanded to tell to the nations, so that they may believe, and believing have Life in His name. Salvation by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary is the only way to be reconciled to the Father. Our gifts and works of the flesh are as filthy rags and cannot earn us anything. It is only by faith in what He has already done to provide forgiveness and redemption that we can be saved. And just as we heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and received Him by faith, so must we go and tell. And as we go, we are to minister to the hurting, disciple one another in the Word, and proclaim the Good News to everyone that we meet that they too can come to trust in Jesus for Salvation.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Turn away from your sIn and unrighteousness and trust what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. Just as Jacob and Esau were reconciled, He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, and is our Life. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
