And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land. And he went up from thence to Beersheba. And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I AM the GOD of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for My servant Abraham's sake. And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well. Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army. And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you? And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee; (Gen 26:22-28)
Now Isaac competes with the Philistines for water and GOD blesses him, renews the promise made to Abraham, and settles the dispute over the wells. Isaac experienced the wisdom and grace of GOD and served GOD the rest of his days. But, some of his decisions came back to haunt him, for Esau married two Hittite women, and Jacob would trick him into confirming the birthright that Esau traded away.
GOD can bless us according to His purposes, and His will, but He may also allow the consequences to our actions and choices to come home to roost. He is gracious and merciful, and will bring us through our trials, but many of our experiences are of our own making. Regardless of why, GOD is always there, and always faithful. He will never leave us or forsake us, and never give us more than we can bear. He even provides us a way out of temptation, if we simply look to His Word, and trust Him for our needs, just as we did for our Salvation.
GOD wants us to share this message of Hope to this lost and dying world. He has commanded us to proclaim Liberty throughout the land, Liberty in Christ that comes from a right relationship with GOD through faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. Freedom from sIn that GOD gives us through forgiveness and grace, not a license to sIn more, but deliverance and release because He has already paid the sIn debt we owe. He has commissioned us to minister to the hurting as He provides, disciple one another in His Word, and take the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we go, telling all who will hear of His love for them so they may believe, and believing have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Turn away from your sIn and unrighteousness and trust what He has already done on that cruel Roman cross. Just as GOD provided for Isaac and gave him rest, He has provided forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, and is our Life. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life.
