And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: He hath said, which heard the Words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: I shall see Him, but not now: I shall behold Him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth. And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for His enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly. Out of Jacob shall come He that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city. (Num. 24:15-19)
Though this prophecy was far beyond the Israel of Balaam’s day or even Israel in the Promised Land, the prophecy was no less true than the other oracles God gave Balaam. This pronouncement of victory speaks of a coming ruler who would rule in Israel and defeat all the enemies of the people of God. The wise men who came and worshipped Jesus knew of this prophecy and understood its timeliness when His star appeared. We see in the continue record of Israel that many of her enemies were vanquished and are no more, but God’s final victory over those nations who are against Him is still to come, meaning Israel must be in place for Christ to rule and be victorious over those who oppose Israel at some future time.
Jesus first advent was one of mercy and service. God became flesh and dwelt among us that we might know Him and for Him to be crucified for our sins and in our place to satisfy the wrath of the Father. His second advent will be in judgment and deliverance of His people. He will conquer the enemies of Israel, establish His Kingdom and rule for a thousand years, and have the final and ultimate victory over sin and those who reject Him. Though He is longsuffering and desires that all come to Him in repentance and faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, there is coming a day when He will wait no longer and there will be no more opportunities to surrender to Him on His terms and be born again unto Salvation. His enemies will be destroyed and His people will be with Him for all eternity.
Until that day, God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
